After earning a degree in economics, Bernhard Oberschmidt joined USU AG, now a subsidiary of USU Software AG, in 1996. After working in the areas of finance and quality management, he assumed responsibility for the accounting and controlling areas of USU AG in 1998 and supervised the floatation (IPO) of USU AG on the stock market in 2000. In 2001, he was appointed Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of USU AG. As part of the merger of Openshop Holding AG and USU AG to create the USU Software Group in 2002, Oberschmidt was first appointed CFO and subsequently the sole Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of USU Software AG.
