BIG Social Media GmbH
BIG Social Media GmbH was founded in 2002 by Prof. Dr. Peter Gentsch as a business intelligence service company. Since 2006, BIG has increasingly focused on social media management. Since 2008, BIG has been successful with BIG SCREEN, its tool for social media monitoring and with BIG INSIGHTS, its tool for social media reporting. Subsequently, BIG also successfully developed innovations such as BIG CONNECT, its tool for social media interaction. Furthermore, the integration of USU KnowledgeCenter into BIG CONNECT has been a decisive step in successfully combining social media with conventional customer service functions.
With its closed-loop approach consisting of monitoring, analysis and interaction, BIG Social Media GmbH serves numerous large (German) domestic and international companies such as Deutsche Post/DHL, Bosch, Telefónica/O2, Microsoft, BMW, and many others.
In addition to establishing social media software structures at end customers, BIG and the Social Media Excellence Circle (SME) also offer comprehensive consulting services. In this respect, BIG can rely on a large network of experienced experts who have successfully implemented social media strategies and processes at major (German) domestic companies such as Deutsche Bahn (German Rail) and Deutsche Telekom as well as major international companies such as Dell and Microsoft.
Since the end of 2012, the USU Group has been a majority owner of BIG.
Dr. Thomas Wilde
Dr. Thomas Wilde is the CEO of BIG Social Media GmbH (BIG) and is in charge of the Development, Operations and Consulting areas. Before joining BIG, he held management positions in business development and was also a consultant for CRM and data warehousing. In addition, he founded a service company for web content management. Dr. Wilde studied business administration at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich (LMU Munich) and earned his Ph.D at its Institute for Information Systems and New Media.
Prof. Dr. Peter Gentsch
Prof. Dr. Peter Gentsch is the founder of and a partner in BIG Social Media GmbH (BIG). In addition, he has published many nationally and internationally recognized papers and is in demand as a popular seminar leader and keynote speaker on the topics of Web 2.0, CRM and business intelligence. He has also won the Innovation Award from the Association of German Market and Social Researchers (BVM) and the international Digital Communication Award for "Digital Monitoring and Evaluation" presented by the Quadriga University of Applied Sciences (Berlin, Germany). Furthermore, he is in charge of the exclusive Social Media Excellence Circle (SME), which includes major enterprises such as Bosch, Coca-Cola, Daimler, Deutsche Post, Microsoft, Deutsche Telekom and O2.
